The Royal Wedding

I set my alarm for 6:00 a.m. ET to watch the royal wedding and I have to say, Catherine's dress is gorgeous! Designer Sarah Burton did an amazing job!

via
However, I did not like this hat worn by Princess Beatrice. What in the world was she thinking!? I mean who puts this on their head and says, "Yeah, that looks pretty." ?????

via
Then I waited patiently with the rest of the world for Prince William and Catherine to kiss and at 8:27 a.m. ET they walked out to the balcony at Buckingham Palace and kissed....twice!

via
Did you watch the royal wedding? Did you pull an all nighter or did you set your alarm like I did? Or maybe your DVR saved you from doing both!? lol.

Awkward & Awesome

Awkward
-Forgetting which side your gas tank is on while pulling into the gas station.
-I've been using three different ointments to get rid of my cold sores and this past week I said screw it and just left them alone and now they are almost gone.
-Why is it that drivers passing you find it necessary to look at you while they are passing you?
-Having water stuck in your ear after you shower.

Awesome
-Dinosaurs
-Driving with no destination. For some reason I just love car rides.
-My interview tomorrow at Forever 21. Hopefully it goes well.
-When my ipod on shuffle reads my mind.
-I feel like my life is finally coming together. These past few years have been pretty rough.

Earth Day 2011

via

This Friday, April 22nd, is Earth Day! It's a great day to get out and do something good for the Earth. To get you motivated, here are a few ideas/deals of what you can do this year to help save the planet:

+ At participating Starbucks, you can bring in a reusable mug on April 22nd to get free brewed coffee or tea!

+ Lowe's is giving away one million trees on April 23rd.

Job Interview

Guess who has a job interview at this amazing place?

via
ME!!

I'm a bit excited if you couldn't tell. : )
But I need this job.
I want this job.
I've been unemployed since December 31st. I was a seasonal worker at Kohls and I guess they found it amusing to let me go New Year's Eve. Yeah, "Happy New Year! Oh, but the way, you no longer work here..." Okay so they didn't say that but that's how it felt.

Anyways....now I have a job interview at Forever 21 on Friday and I can't wait.
I just have no idea what I'm going to wear....

Wish me luck!

Awkward & Awesome

via
Awkward
-The weather here in Michigan. We are now back to Spring...
-I already have the names picked out for my future pugs! I want a male fawn one that will be named either Gus-Gus or Oliver, and then I want a male black one that will be named Rondo (yes it's after my favorite basketball player Rajon Rondo from the Boston Celtics).
-This song. I mean come on, really?
-Getting stuck in a traffic jam (?) on the freeway. Turns out there was a car accident...on one of the nicest days here in Michigan! But we were fully stopped for like 30 minutes and had no idea what was going on.
-Realizing that Ann Arbor has not one but two TJ Maxx's! In a way it's awesome but then again...which one do I go to? Do they both have the same stuff?...nope. So now every time I make a trip to go to TJ Maxx, I'm going to be in limbo deciding which one to go to.

Awesome
-The fact that Ann Arbor has two TJ Maxx's!
-In less than a month I'll be taking my first photography class...YAY!
-My laptop not freezing yet. It usually freezes about three times while writing a blog...it gets annoying sometimes.
-The NBA playoffs begin Saturday!
-Hudsonville's Triple Peanut Butter Cup ice cream.

Spring Scents I'm Loving

via
My favorite scent right now has to be Jennifer Aniston's new fragrance (named after herself). Evoking memories of sunny days at the beach and happy summer nights, this captivating composition includes light, blooming floral notes set against a sensual base of musk and woods.

"I wanted this fragrance to be a personal library of scent memories. For example, my love of night blooming jasmine has lasted a lifetime. Growing up in California, I distinctly remember the scent of jasmine on summer evenings. I consider the scent of the ocean to be one of life's most uplifting sensual experiences. No aroma is quite so purifying, humbling and exhilarating. The combination of the salty air and tropical oils reminds me of long sunny days on the beach-pure happiness."
-Jennifer Aniston

via
Another scent I can't get enough of is Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh. A whimsical interpretation of the original Daisy fragrance, this scent is more fruity, more bubbly, more fun! Open the bottle and you'll be transported to a field of sunshine that bursts with the flirty scent of flowers and the cheerful sweetness of fruits. Its light, woody base infuses a subtle but sharp glimmer of musk for an unexpected twist of radiance.
via
And lastly, I'm loving Flora by Gucci. This subtle, sophisticated, floral fragrance is inspired by princesses from the past, present, and future. The Flora Donna is a young, classic, and refined woman with the 'Gucci edge' of power and sensuality. The first Flora scarf was exclusively designed for Princess Grace of Monaco in 1966 and soon became one of the most popular Gucci icons. This scent is an expression of the Flora legacy. It's seductive layers mirror the playful details and bright colors that channel the heart of a fashion empire.

Yesterday It Was Spring, Today It's Summer

So if you don't live in Michigan, you don't know what the weather is like here. So I thought I would share. We've basically gone from winter to spring to summer all in about 3 days. This time last week it was a high of 46 degrees, last Tuesday 47 degrees, last Thursday 59 degrees, and yesterday it was 55 degrees. You could say that the weather was still in the mists of changing from winter to spring and I'm pretty sure some people up north still had snow on the ground. Today though, this all changed. Mother nature decided that today was a good day to give us summer. It's 68 degrees right now and it's only 12:00 p.m. They say that there is a high of 81 degrees. 81! I'm not prepared for this type of weather yet. Okay, okay, I know I shouldn't be complaining but hey, I like the winter....sometimes. Well lets put it this way, I like the winter because I can cover up all my fat with baggy clothes. There I said it. Haha. So no I'm not prepared to show off my still fat body after I told myself that this was going to be my year, the year, that I was finally going to lose weight. I've been saying this since Sophomore year of High School (2007) and instead of losing weight I've gained weight. In the past three years I've gained 20 lbs. Which I know isn't bad..could be worse...but for me it's a lot. Back in 2008 I weighed 160 lbs. and now three years later I weigh 180 lbs. (I'm only 5'1" so according to my BMI I'm obese...great). So this past January I told myself to get my butt on the treadmill (that was just wasting space in our apartment) and lose the weight. And I did....for about two months. Then I got sick of working out and dieting and not losing the weight that I wanted to. In the two months of working out I only lost 5 lbs. And hey, that should be good right? Wrong! I am the most impatient girl ever and I wanted that weight to just shed off my body. I got tired of hearing everyone else's weight loss numbers (a lot of my friends on Facebook also had the New Year's resolution and they were losing 10 pounds in a month) and so I stopped.
I guess I should get to the point of this very long (and probably boring) post now. The point is is that it's summer here in Michigan now apparently and I don't want to spend another summer wearing jeans or wrapped up in a towel on the beach when I should be in shorts and a bikini.
Back in Sophomore year when I was on yet another kick to lose weight, my sister was in college and found out about Weight Watchers. So far it has been the one thing that has really worked for me. I was losing weight and I realize now that I needed to exercise as well. When I was in High School, I didn't really have the time to...and not having a car didn't really help either. I couldn't just stay late after class and workout.
So now I'm going to try yet again to lose this weight with the help of Weight Watchers. I got re-inspired when I read Tikea's experience over at Selective Potential of her own weight loss journey and how Weight Watchers helped her to achieve her goal.

My goal right now is to lose 60 lbs. to bring me down to 120. I have no idea what I will look like when I am that size (I've never been that skinny in my teenage life) so right now it's just a goal to keep me motivated. If I get down to 130 and I'm happy, then so be it. I'm not worried about the number that I see on the scale (as long as it is in the range of a healthy BMI, 106-130) I just want to look myself in the mirror and be happy with the reflection.
Getting down to 120 isn't going to be easy. It's going to be long, hard, and frustrating. The average person loses 1-2 pounds a week so it's going to take me at least a half a year to do it (if I lose 2 pounds a week), but I know from past experience that it's probably going to be longer...more like a year. And I'm okay with that, I want to take it slow this time, and I want to do it the healthy way. I've faced the truth that the pounds aren't going to just come right off and if I have a month where I only lose 2 lbs. it's okay, I just need to stick with it and maybe increase my time.
I'll keep you guys updated along the way with a post every other month or when I reach a rounded number (like 20 lbs. gone! or 25 lbs. gone!).

This is what I would like to look like...

Summer Plans

Ever since I got this amazing Michigan nature calendar for Christmas this past year I've been waiting for nicer weather so that the boy and I could go to some of the places that are pictured in it. So I got to thinking...and now that the snow has finally melted, the boy and I are going to be taking road trips all throughout Spring and Summer (and possibly Fall as well) to visit all of the sites where the pictures were taken at...along with some other beautiful sites here in Michigan!

Here are a few pictures of the gorgeous scenery Michigan has to offer:

Lake Superior, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore [via]
Round Island Lighthouse, Mackinac Island [via]
Lake Huron sunset at Lighthouse Park [via]
Birch Trees & Sandstone Cliffs along Lake Superior [via]
Seul Point Lighthouse [via]
Presque Isle River, Porcupine Mountains State Park [via]
St. Joseph's North Pier Lighthouse [via]

Hopefully I'll have pictures to post of my own here soon. The plan is to go somewhere this month...I can't wait!

Awkward & Awesome

via
Awkward
-Hitting the car alarm button on your key fob when you're inside your car and now the person in the car next to you is staring at you.
-The fact that Pia went home tonight on American Idol :(
-The musical episode of Grey's Anatomy. Just watched it on Hulu last night...yeah totally did not like it. Surprised that Mark Sloan had a decent voice though. Too bad he didn't sing more.
-Not being able to come up with anything awkward for Awkward & Awesome Thursdays...

Awesome
-Being able to come up with a ton of things that are awesome for Awkward & Awesome Thursdays...
-The predicted weather for this weekend. 70's finally! Please stay...
-My plans for this weekend! I usually just stay inside. A friend is coming over Friday to talk wedding info (she's getting married not me) and I'm spending Saturday with the boy going to the mall and TJ Maxx...maybe see a movie as well.
-Rachel Bilson having the same taste in fashion as I do along with being my height so I can use her as a template for my wardrobe.
